Nothing says summer like a day at the beach and no place is a more iconic representation of Southern California beach culture than the world famous Santa Monica Pier. We are looking forward to our day in the sun as one of our marquee clients, Tommy Bahama, is a proud sponsor of the fourth annual Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival taking place on June 8.
“Stand up paddling is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. With its history deeply rooted in Hawaii, Southern California and the island lifestyle, this sport is a great fit for our brand.” said Rob Goldberg, SVP of Marketing for Tommy Bahama. “That, combined with the ideal location at the Santa Monica Pier and the broader appeal of this event for not just the competitors but also for families, kids and spectators, makes it a perfect event for us.”
Historic exhibits will feature antique surfboards, paddleboards, lifeguard equipment and vintage automobiles tied to local beach culture. Paddleboard racing was a popular SaPADDLEBOARD_logo1nta Monica sport in the 1940s with two paddleboard clubs headquartered on the pier.
This event will have something for everyone. Paddle boarders will be able to compete in events for all skill levels, from a 5.5 mile elite race to a fun paddle. Kids will enjoy beach competitions and games and everyone can enjoy live music and hula performances.
For the ultimate taste of summer stop by the Tommy Bahama Rum tent for a sip of the official Pier Paddle Punch.
The Pier Paddle event is a benefit for the Santa Monica – based Heal the Bay and its public marine education facility, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium that is housed underneath the historic Pier Carousel.
Orsi Public Relations has been busy getting the word out about this amazing event and Tommy Bahama’s role in it. Tune into the KTLA morning news on June 7th for a full preview of all the fun – live from the pier!
