Hello Kitty Museum Retrospective Coming to EMP this November

Exploring the Supercute World of Hello KittyToday, Sanrio announces that the first large-scale Hello Kitty museum retrospective in the United States will be making its way to EMP Museum in Seattle. Opening November 14, Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty celebrates her colorful history and influence on pop culture with over 600 rare artifacts and 40 mixed media works by artists from around the world. Created in honor of the pop icon’s 40th Anniversary last year, the display is organized by Sanrio and the Japanese American National Museum (JANM), home to the original exhibition.

Take a look at the photos below of some of the exhibitions highlights, including a vintage Hello Kitty telephone circa 1976, the one-of-a-kind Hello Kitty dress worn by Lady Gaga, a Hello Kitty talking robot, and artwork by Buff Monster, Kazuki Takamatsu, Gary Baseman and Osamu Watanabe.

Hello! will be on view at EMP through May 15, 2016, with plans underway for the exhibition to travel to additional museums across the U.S.
